Art Exhibition

QIENBOI Event

As part of the QIENBOI event, four Belgian artists – Laurent CLINQUART, Gilliane WARZEE, Alex KREISMAN, and Christophe PIETTE – will exhibit their works at the Slate Museum.


Underground Tour

Self-guided visit of the underground mine 'Johanna' (-42m)

10:00 – 18:00 (last descent at 16:30)

Majestic chambers, mystical water plains, ancient treasures…

Immerse yourself in the underground working world of the Leekëpperten, following a walking trail of approx. 370 steps, descending to a depth of -42 meters.

Suitable for children aged 4 and up. Sturdy shoes and a jacket are necesssary.

Industrial Train Ride

Explore the 8-hectare museum site above ground on boaerd of an industrial train.

No booking required.


Blacksmith Demonstrations

The blacksmiths will showcase their impressive craftsmanship.

Evening Concerts (after museum closing at 18:00)

AntiDOT & AI Wellens Band – QUENBOI Event

As part of the QUENBOI event, two concerts will take place at the Slate Museum.

After a brief introduction to the history of the old slate quarries, you'll descend into the mine to a depth of -42m (approx. 370 steps in total) and learn about slate extraction and transportation.
