Musée Dräi Eechelen

Luxembourg-Kirchberg

Housed in the restored keep of Fort Thüngen, the museum is an exceptional historical building with a spectacular network of underground galleries and mines. Beyond the temporary exhibitions, the permanent collection illustrates the history of the fortress of Luxembourg from the Middle Ages to its dismantling.

Theatre performance: Dem Adam Sigmund von Thüngen seng Festung

Our young audience gets to meet Adam Sigismund von Thüngen, commander of the Luxembourg fortress in the 18th century and namesake of the fort located in the Dräi Eechelen Park, who will reveal exciting details of his personal journey which is closely linked to the development of the fortress and the city.

Outdoor tour - Assault of the Kirchberg (departure from Kirchberg funicular)

Discover two centuries of fortifications: An impressive system of fortifications, almost vanished since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended the Kirchberg and protected the fortress town. The engineer Vauban, who directed the works of the siege in 1684, was commissioned to draw up a project

for reinforcement of the fortress. The museum offers two-hour guided tours of these fortifications. IMPORTANT: Participants should be equipped with suitable clothing, shoes and a torch.

Imperial troops and their families settled in the Duchy of Luxembourg and left their mark. By following the careers of those who commissioned and carried out the work, the exhibition will shed light on this period, marked by three European wars of succession, during which the fortress played a key strategic role.
